Hey UMOCers and outdoor adventure enthusiast!
What better way to end the week off with a beautiful sunset hike up to Mount Monadnock! This is a short hike (only 4 miles!) but we will ascend over 1,500 feet so be prepared to hike up! We’ll be going somewhat fast (with the occasional break) but we want to make sure we make it to the top for sunset! Feel free to bring some paints or your camera to capture the moment at the top.
We’ll be leaving campus at 3:45 so please be at the gear locker at 3:30pm! It takes an hour and 20 min to get there so we should arrive at the Mountain around 5:30pm. We’ll have an hour and a half to hike up to catch the sunset so we’ll need to book it. We’ll be hiking down in the dark and will probably get back around 9:30/10pm.
Things to bring: 1-2 liters water, sturdy shoes, comfortable hiking clothes, a warm jacket and a wind breaker, a snack, a camera or something to paint at the top! It will get windy and cold at the top so bring layers to put on at the top.
I have to cap the trip at 4 hikers unless we have someone sign up with a car— then we can take up to 8 people total.
Cost of trip: Make sure to pay your membership dues ($20 for the year) or pay $5 for the trip. We’ll also need $2 for gas and $5 per person to get into the park. If you have questions about money and payment info feel free to email me at
