https://www.umass.edu/events/carbon-mitigation-plan-1Please join the Carbon Mitigation Taskforce (CMTF) for a 1-hour interactive webinar to learn more about UMass Amherst’s ongoing carbon mitigation planning. The carbon mitigation task force is looking for community input on the campus values that directs how UMass Amherst will become carbon neutral by 2030 and will be sharing the findings to date and the current trajectory of the plan with the community.
The first part of the webinar will be a presentation from the committee and the second half of the webinar is an opportunity to share your input and ask your questions. There will be three Carbon Mitigation Plan interactive webinars in October, 2020.
All three webinars are open to anyone within the campus community (students, faculty, staff, alumni):
October 8 (7-8 PM)
October 14 (7-8 PM)
October 20 (1-2 PM)
Background: In April 2019 the Chancellor tasked the newly formed Carbon Mitigation Taskforce (CMTF) to develop a comprehensive, high-level feasibility study that seeks to achieve carbon neutrality from 100% renewable energy for all heating, cooling, and electrical systems of the main campus by 2030.
The Carbon Mitigation Taskforce, composed of faculty, students, and staff, is leading the carbon mitigation planning efforts. In spring of 2020 it partnered with a consultant team and began its investigation of carbon-neutral energy options for the campus electricity, heating, and cooling, as well as campus fleet.
More information about the Carbon Mitigation Plan can be found at the Sustainable UMass website.
